Optical Delusion of Consciousness
A human being is part of the whole, called by us “universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
– Albert Einstein

It seems to be the week for quoting Einstein: I have just been quickly glancing at a photographers blog and he gave this quote:
ReplyDelete"Imagination is better than knowledge."
I can't say I have ever read any of his words before, but he sounds like a very interesting chap to explore more.
For some reason, I've seen Einstein's quotes everywhere the past few years. I've finally added one of his books to my very extensive 'wish list'.
